About Planets and Moons bingo
Goes one level deeper than a basic solar system card: the eight planets plus their famous features and moons, from Olympus Mons and the Great Red Spot to Titan, Europa and Triton. It suits upper elementary and middle school classes that already know planet order and need a lively way to review what makes each world different.
42 entries make up this Planets and Moons set. With 24 per card, any single one, Subsurface ocean for example, appears on about 57% of the cards, so in a room of 30 players around 17 of them have it.
The caller reads the 42 entries from a shuffled caller sheet and players mark them; the first complete line (row, column or diagonal) wins.

How to host Planets and Moons bingo
-
Print the Planets and Moons cards
Give each player one card; a free set prints up to 30, no two alike. Card 1 above starts with Valles Marineris, Earth's Moon, Mars, Miranda and Titania.
-
Print the caller sheet
All 42 entries appear on it in shuffled order, opening with Greenhouse effect, Callisto, Earth's Moon, Neptune and Mercury; tick each one as you read it out.
-
Before marking “Titan” or “Europa”, ask which planet the moon orbits; Saturn and Jupiter answers keep the moons attached to the right world.
-
Read “Sideways rotation” and pause for a guess; students who say Uranus can earn a bonus dauber, and the same works for “Retrograde spin” and Venus.
-
Group the calls by planet for younger students, finishing all the Mars squares such as “Phobos”, “Deimos” and “Olympus Mons” before moving outward.
-
Call until someone shouts bingo
With 30 cards, expect the first line near call 12 (Ring system in this set's order) and a blackout near call 39; check the winner's squares against your ticked list.
Planets and Moons bingo variations
-
Planets and Moons variation
Planet passport: give each row a planet; when a player marks a feature or moon, they write which planet it belongs to. A line only wins if every answer is correct.
-
Blackout round
Card 1 needs all 24 squares, Valles Marineris to Mercury; on average one card fills after 41.3 of the 42 calls (98% of the deck).
-
Quick 4x4 round
A 4x4 card needs 16 of the 42 entries and no free space; one card is full after about 40.5 calls instead of 41.3.

Frequently asked questions
How many words are on the Planets and Moons bingo list?

Are all Planets and Moons bingo cards the same?
No. Card 1 and card 2 of this set share 13 of their 24 squares, and every card is checked so none of the 30 in a free set repeats. About 2.19 × 10³⁵ different arrangements are possible from the 42 entries (353,697,121,050 different selections of 24).
How many Planets and Moons bingo cards per person?
Usually one. Extra cards speed the game up only a little: on this list a first line took a median 12 calls with 30 cards in play, 10 with 60 (30 players on two cards each) and 16 with just 10. Two cards suit adults who want a faster game; young children do best with one. A free set of 30 covers 15 players on two cards each.
How long does Planets and Moons bingo take?
A Planets and Moons game with 30 players usually reaches its first line after 12 calls (9-16 in 80% of simulated games), about 2 minutes at one call every 10 seconds. A blackout takes about 39; with 10 players the first line needs about 16.
Can I print Planets and Moons bingo cards for free?
Yes, up to 30 unique cards per set at no cost and without an account. Pick how many you need, then use Print cards or Download PDF: each card gets its own page with the title “Planets and Moons Bingo” on top, and the caller sheet lists all 42 entries in this set's shuffled order.
How do I make my own Planets and Moons bingo cards?
Start from this list: the 42 entries are already in the generator, so delete Methane lakes or any other entry, type your own one per line and the cards update as you type. Keep at least 24 entries for 5x5 cards (16 for 4x4); the share link reprints exactly the same set.
