About Trick-or-Treat bingo

Bingo for the walk itself: squares cover what children see and do between doorsteps, such as Porch light on, Teal pumpkin, Take one sign, Inflatable ghost, Dog in costume and Lights off house. Print a small card per child before you leave; it keeps groups together, encourages a Thank you! at every door and makes a short route feel like a game.

43 entries make up this Trick-or-Treat set. With 24 per card, any single one, Doorbell for example, appears on about 56% of the cards, so in a room of 30 players around 17 of them have it.

The caller reads the 43 entries from a shuffled caller sheet and players mark them; the first complete line (row, column or diagonal) wins.

When to play Trick-or-Treat bingo

Halloween 2026 falls on Saturday, October 31. At home or at a party, play on Saturday, October 31 itself, a weekend day in 2026.

In 2027 it falls on Sunday, October 31. Printing 30 cards at one card per page takes 30 sheets plus the caller sheet, so print a few days ahead and keep the share link (seed "trick-or-treat") to reprint the same set.

How long Trick-or-Treat bingo lasts

150 shuffled call orders, played on the first 60 cards of this set. With 30 players the first line comes after a median 12 calls (about 2 minutes at one call every 10 seconds); the first blackout needs 39 calls (about 7 minutes).

How to host Trick-or-Treat bingo

  1. Print the Trick-or-Treat cards

Give each player one card; a free set prints up to 30, no two alike. Card 1 above starts with Cold hands, Sidewalk, Front porch, Talking skeleton and Sticker.

  2. Print the caller sheet

All 43 entries appear on it in shuffled order, opening with Crosswalk, Candy trade, Talking skeleton, Little sibling and Candy bowl; tick each one as you read it out.

  3. Print 3x3 cards on stiff paper and tape them to the Treat bucket; children mark squares with a crayon at each stop without letting go of the bucket.

  4. Make safety squares count: Reflective tape, Crosswalk and Grown-up chaperone remind children to stay visible and cross carefully while they hunt for the next square.

  5. Finish at home with Counting candy and Candy trade as the last two squares, so the game ends calmly at the kitchen table instead of at a stranger's door.

  6. Call until someone shouts bingo

With 30 cards, expect the first line near call 12 (Dog in costume in this set's order) and a blackout near call 39; check the winner's squares against your ticked list.

Trick-or-Treat bingo variations

  • Trick-or-Treat variation

Neighborhood blackout: siblings share one 5x5 card for the whole route and try to cover every square before heading home; anything left becomes the first thing to look for next year.

  • Blackout round

Card 1 needs all 24 squares, Cold hands to Reflective tape; on average one card fills after 42.2 of the 43 calls (98% of the deck).

  • Quick 4x4 round

A 4x4 card needs 16 of the 43 entries and no free space; one card is full after about 41.4 calls instead of 42.2.

First 15 calls of this Trick-or-Treat set

Seed "trick-or-treat" gives this order, the same one the caller sheet prints. With these calls, card 4 of the first 30 completes the G column (Big kids, Porch light on, Full-size candy bar, Sticker and Dog in costume) on call 19, and card 22 is the first full card on call 40.

Frequently asked questions

How many words are on the Trick-or-Treat bingo list?

43, from Big kids to Wagon. A 5x5 card with a free center uses 24 of them, so each card leaves out 19. The shortest entry is Wagon (5 characters) and the longest is Pumpkin on the steps (20).

Are all Trick-or-Treat bingo cards the same?

No. Card 1 and card 2 of this set share 15 of their 24 squares, and every card is checked so none of the 30 in a free set repeats. About 4.97 × 10³⁵ different arrangements are possible from the 43 entries (800,472,431,850 different selections of 24).

How many Trick-or-Treat bingo cards per person?

Usually one. Extra cards speed the game up only a little: on this list a first line took a median 12 calls with 30 cards in play, 11 with 60 (30 players on two cards each) and 15 with just 10. Two cards suit adults who want a faster game; young children do best with one. A free set of 30 covers 15 players on two cards each.

How long does Trick-or-Treat bingo take?

A Trick-or-Treat game with 30 players usually reaches its first line after 12 calls (9-16 in 80% of simulated games), about 2 minutes at one call every 10 seconds. A blackout takes about 39; with 10 players the first line needs about 15.

Can I print Trick-or-Treat bingo cards for free?

Yes. The generator above makes up to 30 cards (5x5 cards with a free center) from the 43 entries; Print cards sends them to your printer and Download PDF saves one card per page, so 30 cards take 30 pages plus the caller sheet. It all runs in your browser with no sign-up.

How do I make my own Trick-or-Treat bingo cards?

Open Edit words in the generator above: it already holds the 43 entries, one per line. Replace Grown-up chaperone with something from your own group, add inside jokes or names, and the sample card redraws at once. 5x5 cards need 24 entries or more.
