How 1-80 cards are laid out
Columns have fixed ranges: column 1 1-20, column 2 21-40, column 3 41-60 and column 4 61-80. Every column gets 4 numbers. A card covers 20% of the values 1 to 80, so a given card is marked on only about one call in 5 and games run long.
In our 400 simulated games with 30 cards, the first straight line fell at call 19 and the first full card (blackout) at call 65, out of 80 possible calls from 1 to 80.
How to make 1-80 bingo cards by hand
- Draw a 4x4 grid for each 1-80 card.
- Fill each column from its own range: 4 from 1-20 in column 1, 4 from 21-40 in column 2, 4 from 41-60 in column 3 and 4 from 61-80 in column 4, never repeating a number.
- Each 1-80 card now holds 16 of the 80 values. Compare new cards with the ones you have made, since two identical cards would win together.
- Write 1 to 80 on 80 slips (or print the caller sheet) and draw them one at a time.

How many calls until the first bingo
400 simulated games per row with cards from this page's generator; a card wins on any full row, column or diagonal. The range covers 8 games out of 10.
| Cards in play | Median calls | Range (10th-90th percentile) | Share of the numbers called |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 card | 44 | 30-59 | 55% |
| 10 cards | 25 | 16-33 | 31% |
| 30 cards | 19 | 13-26 | 24% |
| 100 cards | 15 | 10-19 | 19% |
How many 1-80 cards per person
Start with one card per player; keen players can take two or three. In our runs a card on its own needed 44 calls for a line, while the first line among 10 cards came at call 25, among 30 at call 19 and among 100 at call 15.
So for 1-80 bingo, 10 players with 3 cards each, or 15 players with 2 each, should expect a winner around call 19 of 80; a class of 30 with one card each gives the same figure.
That spread (25 calls between one card and thirty) is large for a 80-number game, so giving keen players 2 or 3 cards each speeds things up noticeably without changing the chances for anyone holding the same number of cards.
What is in the 1-80 set
- 40 even and 40 odd numbers between 1 and 80.
- By length: 9 with one digit and 71 with two digits; mixing lengths is good place-value practice.
- 22 prime numbers in the set: 2, 3, 5, 7, 11, 13 … 79.
- Square numbers: 1, 4, 9, 16, 25, 36, 49 and 64 (8 of 80).
- Multiples of ten: 10, 20, 30, 40, 50, 60, 70 and 80, a quick landmark for players scanning their card.
- Numbers with a repeated digit: 11, 22, 33, 44, 55, 66 and 77 (7 of 80).

How to play 1-80 bingo
-
Make the cards
Generate cards above (free up to 30 per set, all different) and print one per player; a single card already finds a line in about 44 calls.
-
Prepare the calls
Print the caller sheet: 1 to 80 (80 numbers) in a shuffled order.
-
Call and mark
Read each number twice and cross it off the caller board. Expect the first line around call 19 with 30 cards.
-
Check the winner
Ask the winner to read back their line; every number must be on your board. A blackout needs all 16 numbers; with 30 cards that took 65 calls in our runs.

4x4 cards, 16 numbers each. Columns have fixed ranges: column 1 1-20, column 2 21-40, column 3 41-60 and column 4 61-80. Every column gets 4 numbers.
How many different 1-80 bingo cards are there?
182,818,479,414,274,560,000 (about 183 quintillion). Each column is an ordered choice from its own range (116,280 for column 1, 116,280 for column 2, 116,280 for column 3, 116,280 for column 4); multiplying the columns gives the total.
How do you make 1-80 bingo cards?

How many cards should each person get?
One or two 1-80 cards. With 10 cards in play the first bingo comes around call 25, with 30 around call 19 and with 100 around call 15; more cards per player mainly makes the game shorter.
