About Summer Bucket List bingo

A summer bucket list in bingo form: a card of things to do before school starts again, from catching a firefly and running a lemonade stand to a backyard campout, a drive-in movie and skipping stones. Families print it in June, stick it on the fridge and mark each square as they do it; a full line by August is a realistic goal.

On a 5x5 card with a free center, Summer Bucket List bingo shows 24 of the 40 tasks, so each one lands on about 60% of the cards: in a set of 30, “Build a sandcastle” or “Catch a firefly” appears on roughly 18 cards. Card 1 leaves out 16 of them, including “Spit watermelon seeds”, “Stargaze at night” and “Sleep in a tent”, so no single card can mark everything.

There is no caller: each player marks a square once they have done it, such as “Build a sandcastle” or “Drive-in movie”, over an agreed week or month. A line takes 5 squares (4 on a line through the free center); a full card takes all 24.

How to play Summer Bucket List bingo

  1. Print the Summer Bucket List cards

Give each player one card; a free set prints up to 30, no two alike. Card 1 above starts with “Bike to the park”, “Tie-dye a shirt”, “Bracelet making”, “Make ice pops” and “Build a sandcastle”.

  2. Agree on the time frame

Each player marks a square once it is done, such as “Build a sandcastle” or “Drive-in movie”. Set the period first (a week, a month, a season); a line needs 5 squares (4 on a line through the free center) and a full card all 24.

  3. Mix free and paid squares on purpose; 'Skip stones', 'Climb a tree' and 'Paint rocks' cost nothing, while 'Water park day' can be the big prize at the end.

  4. Let each child pick the free center or swap one square for their own idea before printing, so the card feels like their own list.

  5. Take a photo every time you mark a square, such as 'Find a seashell' or 'Chalk art mural', and turn them into a summer album in September.

  6. Check the card

Ask the winner what they did for each square on the line. A full card is 24 of the 40 tasks; card 1 of this set, for example, includes “Bike to the park” and “Tie-dye a shirt”.

Summer Bucket List bingo variations

  • Summer Bucket List variation

Sibling race: give each child their own card with the same squares in a different order, and the first to finish a line picks the next family activity from the squares still left.

  • Blackout round

Card 1 needs all 24 tasks, “Bike to the park” to “Find a seashell”; over a 30-day month that is about 5.6 tasks a week.

  • Quick 4x4 round

A 4x4 card has 16 squares and no free space, so a full card needs 16 tasks instead of 24; lines take 4.

First 15 entries on the Summer Bucket List caller sheet

Seed "summer-bucket-list" gives this order, the same one the caller sheet prints (use it as a checklist, or call from it). With these entries in this order, card 5 of the first 30 completes row 3 (“Make ice pops”, “Plant sunflowers”, “Ride a roller coaster” and “Tie-dye a shirt”) on entry 14, and card 6 is the first full card on entry 37.

Frequently asked questions

How many tasks are on the Summer Bucket List bingo list?

40, from Backyard campout to Write a postcard. A 5x5 card with a free center uses 24 of them, so each card leaves out 16. The shortest entry is Mini golf (9 characters) and the longest is Spit watermelon seeds (21).

Are all Summer Bucket List bingo cards the same?

No. Card 1 and card 2 of this set share 15 of their 24 squares, and every card is checked so none of the 30 in a free set repeats. About 3.90 × 10³⁴ different arrangements are possible from the 40 tasks (62,852,101,650 different selections of 24).

How many Summer Bucket List bingo cards per person?

One card per player: each card is a personal checklist of 24 tasks. A free set of 30 cards covers 30 players, and New shuffle makes another set for a bigger group.

How do you play Summer Bucket List bingo?

There is no caller: each player marks a square once they have done it, such as “Build a sandcastle” or “Drive-in movie”, over an agreed week or month. A line takes 5 squares (4 on a line through the free center); a full card takes all 24.

Can I print Summer Bucket List bingo cards for free?

Yes. All 40 tasks are loaded above, so choose a card count up to 30 and press Print cards, or Download PDF to print later at one card per sheet (30 sheets for a full set). The shuffled caller sheet prints separately; nothing is uploaded or stored on a server.

How do I make my own Summer Bucket List bingo cards?

Start from this list: the 40 tasks are already in the generator, so delete “Bake a pie” or any other entry, type your own one per line and the cards update as you type. Keep at least 24 entries for 5x5 cards (16 for 4x4); the share link reprints exactly the same set.
