About Corporate Buzzwords bingo

Corporate Buzzwords Bingo collects the phrases that fill status updates and strategy decks: “Synergy”, “Circle back”, “Boil the ocean”, “Double-click on that” and “Run it up the flagpole”. It suits team meetings, conference talks and lighthearted training sessions for adults, and it doubles as a gentle reminder that most ideas can be said more plainly.

This Corporate Buzzwords list is 45 moments long and a 5x5 card with a free center takes 24, which leaves 21 off each card. That is why one entry (“Low-hanging fruit”, say) appears on about 16 of 30 cards: card 1, for instance, has no “Synergy” or “Circle back”.

There is no caller: everyone marks a square the moment it happens or is said, such as “Empower” or “Ideate”. The first complete line wins; the caller sheet is the host's checklist.

How many moments until Corporate Buzzwords bingo has a winner

Nobody controls the order here, so this table assumes the 45 moments come up in random order: 150 shuffled orders on the first 60 cards of this set. With 30 players the first line comes after a median 13 moments; a blackout needs 41 of the 45, so most games end on a line.

How to play Corporate Buzzwords bingo

  1. Print the Corporate Buzzwords cards

Give each player one card; a free set prints up to 30, no two alike. Card 1 above starts with “Win-win”, “Ducks in a row”, “Run it up the flagpole”, “Move the needle” and “Value add”.

  2. Watch and mark, no caller needed

Players mark a square the moment it happens or is said, “Empower” for example. Keep the shuffled caller sheet (opening with “Heavy lifting”, “Synergy” and “Bandwidth”) as your checklist, or read from it to run a called game instead.

  3. Mark a square only when the phrase is said aloud, not written on a slide; “Synergy” printed on a title page should not count.

  4. After the game, pair each called buzzword with its plain-English meaning, for example “Bandwidth” means time and “Heavy lifting” means the hardest part of the work.

  5. For quieter rooms, use a 4x4 grid with everyday phrases such as “Touch base”, “Deep dive” and “Going forward” so cards fill steadily.

  6. Check the winning line

If the moments come in random order, 30 players see a first line after about 13 of them; ask the winner when each square on the line happened and compare with your checklist.

Corporate Buzzwords bingo variations

  • Corporate Buzzwords variation

Translation bingo: when someone marks a square, they must restate the buzzword in plain words, such as turning “Move the needle” into make a real difference, before the square counts.

  • Blackout round

Card 1 needs all 24 moments, “Win-win” to “Holistic”; if they come in random order, one card fills after 44.2 of the 45 on average, so save it for a long event.

  • Quick 4x4 round

A 4x4 card needs 16 of the 45 moments and no free space; one card is full after about 43.3 moments instead of 44.2.

First 15 entries on the Corporate Buzzwords caller sheet

Seed "corporate-buzzwords" gives this order, the same one the caller sheet prints (use it as a checklist, or call from it). Frequently asked questions

How many moments are on the Corporate Buzzwords bingo list?

45, from Alignment to Win-win. A 5x5 card with a free center uses 24 of them, so each card leaves out 21. The shortest entry is Ideate (6 characters) and the longest is Run it up the flagpole (22).

Are all Corporate Buzzwords bingo cards the same?

No. Card 1 and card 2 of this set share 10 of their 24 squares, and every card is checked so none of the 30 in a free set repeats. About 2.34 × 10³⁶ different arrangements are possible from the 45 moments (3,773,655,750,150 different selections of 24).

How many Corporate Buzzwords bingo cards per person?

One card each is standard. In 150 simulated games of this list, 30 players on one card each got a first line after a median 13 moments; with two cards each (60 in play) it came after 11, and 10 single cards took 16. Two cards each suit a small group that wants a quicker game. A free set of 30 covers 15 players on two cards each.

How do you play Corporate Buzzwords bingo?

There is no caller: everyone marks a square the moment it happens or is said, such as “Empower” or “Ideate”. The first complete line wins; the caller sheet is the host's checklist.

How long does Corporate Buzzwords bingo take?

A Corporate Buzzwords game with 30 players usually reaches its first line after 13 moments (9-16 in 80% of simulated games). A blackout takes about 41; with 10 players the first line needs about 16.

Can I print Corporate Buzzwords bingo cards for free?

Yes, up to 30 unique cards per set at no cost and without an account. Pick how many you need, then use Print cards or Download PDF: each card gets its own page with the title “Corporate Buzzwords Bingo” on top, and the caller sheet lists all 45 moments in this set's shuffled order.

How do I make my own Corporate Buzzwords bingo cards?

Open Edit words in the generator above: it already holds the 45 moments, one per line. Replace “Pain point” with something from your own group, add inside jokes or names, and the sample card redraws at once. 5x5 cards need 24 entries or more.
