About IT Help Desk bingo

IT Help Desk Bingo is drawn from the tickets support teams see again and again: “Forgot password”, “Printer jam”, “Caps Lock on”, “Is it plugged in?” and the timeless “Turn it off and on”. It suits help desk staff during a long shift, IT appreciation days and staff training on how to report a problem clearly.

This IT Help Desk list is 43 entries long and a 5x5 card with a free center takes 24, which leaves 19 off each card. That is why one entry (Printer jam, say) appears on about 17 of 30 cards: card 1, for instance, has no Printer jam or Ticket number.

A host reads out one entry at a time from the printed caller sheet (all 43 of them, shuffled); players daub the square if their card has it and call bingo on a full line.

How to host IT Help Desk bingo

  1. Print the IT Help Desk cards

Give each player one card; a free set prints up to 30, no two alike. Card 1 above starts with Spam folder, Shared drive full, VPN drops, Update pending and Turn it off and on.

  2. Print the caller sheet

All 43 entries appear on it in shuffled order, opening with Spam folder, Auto-reply setup, Cable unplugged, Out of storage and New laptop setup; tick each one as you read it out.

  3. Play across a full shift and mark squares only from real tickets, so “Coffee on the laptop” stays rare and “Password reset” stays honest.

  4. Use the finished cards in a team retro: squares that filled fastest, such as “Account locked”, may point to a self-service fix worth building.

  5. For staff training, flip the game: employees mark “Did you save it?” and “Restore from backup” when they learn the habit that prevents that ticket.

  6. Call until someone shouts bingo

With 30 cards, expect the first line near call 13 (App not responding in this set's order) and a blackout near call 39; check the winner's squares against your ticked list.

IT Help Desk bingo variations

  • IT Help Desk variation

Ticket race: two support pods each share a card, only squares tied to resolved tickets count, and the first pod to finish a diagonal chooses lunch for the whole team.

  • Blackout round

Card 1 needs all 24 squares, Spam folder to Caps Lock on; on average one card fills after 42.2 of the 43 calls (98% of the deck).

  • Quick 4x4 round

A 4x4 card needs 16 of the 43 entries and no free space; one card is full after about 41.4 calls instead of 42.2.

First 15 calls of this IT Help Desk set

Seed "it-help-desk" gives this order, the same one the caller sheet prints. With these calls, card 27 of the first 30 completes the diagonal from the top right (Auto-reply setup, Ticket closed, Out of storage and Spinning wheel) on call 15, and card 11 is the first full card on call 39.

Frequently asked questions

How many words are on the IT Help Desk bingo list?

43, from Account locked to Wrong cable. A 5x5 card with a free center uses 24 of them, so each card leaves out 19. The shortest entry is VPN drops (9 characters) and the longest is Coffee on the laptop (20).

Are all IT Help Desk bingo cards the same?

No. Card 1 and card 2 of this set share 15 of their 24 squares, and every card is checked so none of the 30 in a free set repeats. About 4.97 × 10³⁵ different arrangements are possible from the 43 entries (800,472,431,850 different selections of 24).

How many IT Help Desk bingo cards per person?

One card each is standard. In 150 simulated games of this list, 30 players on one card each got a first line after a median 13 calls; with two cards each (60 in play) it came after 11, and 10 single cards took 16. Two cards each suit a small group that wants a quicker game. A free set of 30 covers 15 players on two cards each.

How long does IT Help Desk bingo take?

An IT Help Desk game with 30 players usually reaches its first line after 13 calls (10-16 in 80% of simulated games), about 2 minutes at one call every 10 seconds. A blackout takes about 39; with 10 players the first line needs about 16.

Can I print IT Help Desk bingo cards for free?

Yes, up to 30 unique cards per set at no cost and without an account. Pick how many you need, then use Print cards or Download PDF: each card gets its own page with the title “IT Help Desk Bingo” on top, and the caller sheet lists all 43 entries in this set's shuffled order.

How do I make my own IT Help Desk bingo cards?

Start from this list: the 43 entries are already in the generator, so delete Printer jam or any other entry, type your own one per line and the cards update as you type. Keep at least 24 entries for 5x5 cards (16 for 4x4); the share link reprints exactly the same set.
