About Step Challenge bingo

Step Challenge Bingo gives a workplace walking challenge more variety than a single number: “Walking meeting”, “Get off a stop early”, “Lunch-break loop”, “Rainy day walk”, “Weekend hike” and “Beat yesterday's count”. It suits office wellness programs, school staff and family teams, and it lets people who cannot reach a big daily total still win with smart squares.

This Step Challenge list is 42 tasks long and a 5x5 card with a free center takes 24, which leaves 18 off each card. That is why one entry (“Park far away”, say) appears on about 17 of 30 cards: card 1, for instance, has no “Park far away” or “Lap of the building”.

There is no caller: each player marks a square once they have done it, such as “Pedometer check” or “Get off a stop early”, over an agreed week or month. A line takes 5 squares (4 on a line through the free center); a full card takes all 24.

Step Challenge bingo as a called game

For a one-session version, draw the 42 tasks at random like a classic game. 150 shuffled orders on this set's first 60 cards: with 30 players the first line comes after a median 12 calls (about 2 minutes at 10 seconds a call); a blackout needs 38.

How to play Step Challenge bingo

  1. Print the Step Challenge cards

Give each player one card; a free set prints up to 30, no two alike. Card 1 above starts with “Treadmill session”, “Pace while on a call”, “Hallway laps”, “Team leaderboard” and “Walking meeting”.

  2. Agree on the time frame

Each player marks a square once it is done, such as “Pedometer check” or “Get off a stop early”. Set the period first (a week, a month, a season); a line needs 5 squares (4 on a line through the free center) and a full card all 24.

  3. Pair the card with any step counter people already own, but let squares like “Walk with a friend” and “Nature photo stop” count without one.

  4. Offer seated or low-impact alternatives before printing, so a teammate who cannot do “Hill climb” or “Count a staircase” still has a fair card.

  5. Post a shared photo board for squares like “Sneaker selfie” and “Walk in the snow”, which builds team spirit across remote and office staff.

  6. Check the card

Ask the winner what they did for each square on the line. A full card is 24 of the 42 tasks; card 1 of this set, for example, includes “Treadmill session” and “Pace while on a call”.

Step Challenge bingo variations

  • Step Challenge variation

Relay weeks: teams pass a single card along, and each member must mark a new square on their day, aiming to reach “Double goal day” as a group before the challenge ends.

  • Blackout round

Card 1 needs all 24 tasks, “Treadmill session” to “Hill climb”; over a 30-day month that is about 5.6 tasks a week.

  • Quick 4x4 round

A 4x4 card has 16 squares and no free space, so a full card needs 16 tasks instead of 24; lines take 4.

First 15 entries on the Step Challenge caller sheet

Seed "step-challenge" gives this order, the same one the caller sheet prints (use it as a checklist, or call from it). With these entries in this order, card 27 of the first 30 completes the N column (“Daily goal met”, “Dog walk”, “Walk after dinner” and “Park bench rest”) on entry 11, and card 16 is the first full card on entry 38.

Frequently asked questions

How many tasks are on the Step Challenge bingo list?

42, from Beat yesterday's count to Weekend hike. A 5x5 card with a free center uses 24 of them, so each card leaves out 18. The shortest entry is Dog walk (8 characters) and the longest is Beat yesterday's count (22).

Are all Step Challenge bingo cards the same?

No. Card 1 and card 2 of this set share 14 of their 24 squares, and every card is checked so none of the 30 in a free set repeats. About 2.19 × 10³⁵ different arrangements are possible from the 42 tasks (353,697,121,050 different selections of 24).

How many Step Challenge bingo cards per person?

One card per player: each card is a personal checklist of 24 tasks. A free set of 30 cards covers 30 players, and New shuffle makes another set for a bigger group.

How do you play Step Challenge bingo?

There is no caller: each player marks a square once they have done it, such as “Pedometer check” or “Get off a stop early”, over an agreed week or month. A line takes 5 squares (4 on a line through the free center); a full card takes all 24.

Can I print Step Challenge bingo cards for free?

Yes. All 42 tasks are loaded above, so choose a card count up to 30 and press Print cards, or Download PDF to print later at one card per sheet (30 sheets for a full set). The shuffled caller sheet prints separately; nothing is uploaded or stored on a server.

How do I make my own Step Challenge bingo cards?

Start from this list: the 42 tasks are already in the generator, so delete “Walk to the mailbox” or any other entry, type your own one per line and the cards update as you type. Keep at least 24 entries for 5x5 cards (16 for 4x4); the share link reprints exactly the same set.
